Polk City was incorporated in 1875 and was named after President James K. Polk.  Polk City is part of the Des Moines Metropolitan Area and is located at the Metro's northern edge in Polk County.   Polk City has an easy commute to the rest of the Metro via Highway 141.  Polk City has a population of 3,976, making up 1,250 households, with an average household size of 2.73, and an average household income of $72,473.  Polk City has a small town feel with all of the amenities that the Des Moines Metropolitan Area has to offer.
