Granger is geographically located north of Des Moines and is a part of both Polk and Dallas Counties. Granger has easy access to the rest of the Metro via Highway 141. Granger has a population of 1,367, making up 485 households with an average household size of 2.6, and a median household income of $53,091. Recreational opportunities in Granger include Saylorville Lake, Jester Park Golf Course, and Jester Park. Saylorville Lake has a total water area of approximately 5,520 acres. The lake has 25 recreation areas with two beaches, one marina, three boat ramps, 24 picnic shelters, and 530 campsites for the summer months. Saylorville Lake is very popular with people from the Des Moines Metro. Jester Park Golf Course is open to the public year round. Jester Park Golf Course has an 18-hole championship golf course and a 9-hole, par 3 executive course. There are four sets of tees on each hole so golfers can play to their ability. Jester Park is a 1,834-acre park on the western shore of Saylorville Lake that offers camping, picnicking, and golfing in a quiet country setting. No other park in the Des Moines Metro offers such a wide variety of outdoor recreational opportunities.

Another educational opportunity in Granger is Assumption Catholic School which has Pre-K to 8th grade, with approximately 82 students.
