ADEL, IOWA - Adel is geographically located west of Des Moines and in Dallas County off of Highway 6. Adel was officially incorporated in 1847. Adel has a population of approximately 4,047 people making up 1,489 households, with an average household size of 2.42, and a median household income of $39,423. Adel is the birthplace of Heisman Trophy winner Nile Kinnick.
Adel is in the Adel DeSoto Minburn Community School District. The school district has approximately 1,428 students. The school district competes in Class 3-A for extracurricular activities. The Tigers represent Adel DeSoto Minburn Community School District as their mascot. The football, track, and soccer teams compete in Tiger Stadium, which has the capacity to seat approximately 2,500 spectators.
