Pleasant Hill is a community of 8,785 people located just east of Des Moines in Polk County.  Pleasant Hill was incorporated as a city on May 12, 1956.  In the past ten years, it has seen a population increase of approximately 73 percent.  Pleasant Hill is conveniently situated at the intersection of Iowa Highway 163 and US Highway 65, and is approximately ten minutes from downtown Des Moines.  There are approximately 3,395 households in Pleasant Hill, with an average household size of 2.72, and a median household income of $71,868.
